Processing’s Python Mode is a fantastic entry point into the world of creative coding, the Python language, and programming in general (I think it’s so great that I wrote a whole series of lessons covering it). I began experimenting with Blender scripting largely via Python Mode for Processing. I have an interest in creative coding using the Python programming language. Figure 1.1: The Blender modelling layout with a panel for editing code That means you can use Python code draw, animate, and manipulate 3D objects. Artists and animators operate Blender using a graphic user interface (Figure 1.1), but it also features a Python API that can do everything the GUI can and more. Blender is open-source software for 3D modelling and animation that can also handle compositing, video editing, and 2D animation. In this series of tutorials, I’ll introduce Blender as a tool for creative coding. On day 5 we also had a look at masking the files for it you will find on the file share server. At the time of writing, Blender is on release 2.83 this is also a long term support release ( LTS). On Day 4 and 5 students had to apply what they learned during the first three days and combine it with the motion tracking abilities of Blender. ![]() They also had a look at physics simulation possibilities of the new 2.66 release. On day 3 students learned how to animate not only objects but also vertices with shapekeys and hooks. ![]() Modeling: Extrude + Scale a Circle, Extrude a Point, Spin Tool, Path Animations with DupliFrames, FollowPath-Parenting + Particle System and FollowPath-Constraint + Particle System.ĭAY2+EX1(50MB incl rendered videos for video editor) On Day 1 we learned how to animate objects, its modifiers and how to render an animation. The video of day 2 was also part of the first excercise, which consist of creating a path animation. ![]() In the following we document the process of the Blender introduction week. ![]()
